The FA 30 filter adapter for air sampling on a sterile 80 mm gelatine filter

The FA 30 filter adapter is operated with the convenient MBASS30 system or with the separate diaphragm pump.

The filtration method is only really in evidence when handling high airborne microbe loads. In Germany, filtration is used for measurements at biological workplaces, e.g. composting plants, refuse sorting plants.

Possible sampling media include commercially available gelatine filters in sterile disposable units (e.g. Sartorius SM 17528 - 080 - ACD).

The use of other filter media is possible and depends on the vacuum required for operation with MBASS30.

The preparation and evaluation of the loaded filter is described in the “Methods for determination of the mould spore concentration in the air at the workplace” in the BIA worksheet 9420.
